Mae West: Domestic or Foreign?

MAE WEST always used to say, "I like two kinds of men — — domestic and foreign." And in 1933-1934, American and foreign gentlemen got to see much more of Mae.
• • In the United States, Mae's movie "I'm No Angel" was released coast to coast by Paramount Pictures on 6 October 1933.
• • This profitable, critically acclaimed motion picture also played on the international circuit.
• • In Denmark, the same film ["Jeg er ikke nogen engel" in the Danish language] made its debut on 5 February 1934 — — and in Finland on 18 February 1934, where it was called "En ole enkeli."
• • "I'm No Angel" was also known as "Ich bin kein Engel" in Austria and Germany.
• • The Portuguese called it "Não Sou Um Anjo."
• • The Hungarians knew it as "Nem vagyok angyal."
• • Spain's marquees advertised it as "No soy ningún ángel."
• • Similarly, in Venezuela, it was applauded as "No soy un ángel."
• • In New York City, where October 10th is celebrated as "National Angel Food Cake Day," and the Empire State Building is bathed in white lights for this sweet occasion, we ask our hometown girl, our Brooklyn bombshell to "Look homeward, Angel!" on National-I'm-No-Angel-Day.
