Mae West: Angela Eagle

On Sunday, 13 August 2017, MAE WEST received a lovely headline in Great Britain's paper, The Sunday Times. Here's an excerpt.
• • Mae West was my pin-up, says MP Angela Eagle • •
• • British reporter Arthi Nachiappan wrote: The Labour MP Angela Eagle says the fact she had posters of Mae West on her bedroom wall rather than those of Humphrey Bogart — as her twin sister did — should have been a clue to her sexuality.
• • Arthi Nachiappan continued: Angela Eagle, 56, who in 1997 became the first female MP to come out as gay, entered into a civil partnership in 2008.
• • In The Sunday Times Magazine today [i.e., August 13th], she says: “I wasn’t interested in boyfriends or girlfriends as a teenager. I did notice the people I admired were all women.  I liked Mae West, an amazing, witty woman who broke sexual taboos," noted Arthi Nachiappan.
• • On Wednesday, 31 August 1938 • •
• • An article complimenting Mae West and applauding her newest motion picture "Every Day's a Holiday" was published in The Queenslander (Brisbane, Australia) on Wednesday, 31 August 1938.
• • Overheard in Hollywood • •
• • Satisfied with his performance in "She Done Him Wrong," Paramount Pictures will raise the salary of Cary Grant from $450 a week to $750 a week when he begins shooting "I'm No Angel" starring and also written by Mae West.
