• • Now wags quip that only two people own the San Fernando Valley — — Mae West and Bob Hope. Both celebrities have extensive holdings which are worth millions of dollars.
• • Once while driving a car, the star passed an interesting piece of land with tall trees on it. Acting on impulse, she decided to buy it. Her manager and other financial experts advised against it. The more they told Mae not to buy it, the more interested she became. Finally, paying off the back taxes and giving the relieved property owner a small cash amount, Mae bought it.
