Well, that is actually what happened with the lips of the one and only Mae West, and it is a fraction of what the timeless actress left as her legacy to popular culture.

• • Brad Smithfield wrote: Some claim that the curvy bombshell inspired the bottle of Coca-Cola, and it is a fact that there was a perfume that, indeed, took the shape of her prominent torso. It was designed in 1937, by one of the greatest rivals of Coco Chanel, Elsa Schiaparelli. The perfume was named Schoking, which is probably a good word to use to also describe a major portion of Mae West’s overall unapologetic career.

• • The ageless Mae West has just released a rock 'n' roll album for the holidays. It is called "Wild Christmas" and features her own version of "Santa Baby" (featuring the Westian twist on lyrics).

• • The Milwaukee Sentinel wrote: "It cannot be said that 'Come On Up' is not on the corny side, but it is cheerful, crude, well-plowed corn, grown that way on purpose.  Many women in the audience giggled delightedly ... Mae West: Slipper Room Sex

In 1975, MAE WEST issued her latest book:  "Mae West on Sex, Health, and ESP" [London: W.H. Allen]. A New York City based cabaret duo has taken a great deal of inspiration from this.

• • On Tuesday, 3 December 1935 • •
• • The Cornell Daily Sun, Volume 56, Number 59, 3 December 1935 ran an interesting article — "The Champ Meets a Notable." Illustrating the text was a photo of Mae West standing between two men: heavyweight champ Jim Braddock and his buddy Joe Zigg. It seems that Mae gave these handsome fellows a tour of Hollywood film studios. Mae could always spot a good-looking guy.

• • "Day Tripper" is a song by The Beatles, released as a double A-side single with "We Can Work It Out" on Friday, 3 December 1965 in the U.K. Mae West covered this song on her 1966 album "Way Out West." Her album was re-released in 2008 on CD.

• • William Le Baron, who has signed a new term contract with Paramount, is currently concerned with the Mae West, W. C. Fields, Gladys Swarthout, Jan Kiepura, and Burns and Allen pictures, plus an Alaskan aerial adventure film and a story for Carole Lombard.

• • Mae West said:   "People just don't eat right. For breakfast, I have sliced apples and raisins. Or fruit with a syrup made of powdered almonds, milk, and honey. At night all I have is a salad. During the day I drink carrot juice."

• • From Diana Souhami’s critically acclaimed biography of lesbian painter Hannah Gluckstein [Open Road Media, 2014], there is this curious tidbit about Mae West:  She saw Mae West in "I'm no Angel." Gluckstin wrote in her journal: "Gawd! I was fascinated but I never want to see her again." ...
