NYC Italians Court Mae West

Can the Brooklyn bombshell spur the revitalization of the Italian American acting community? That’s the hope of Thomas Morrissey. Morrissey is the director of the play, Courting Mae West, about the life of actress and playwright Mae West, that is set to debut in West’s hometown of New York at the CUNY Graduate Center (365 5th Avenue) on February 9th. Actor Al Sapienza (The Sopranos), who is being considered for one of the performance’s roles, recently expressed his desire to see a greater involvement of Italian-Americans in the acting community:.. .
