Mae West: Armed Bodyguard

It was Monday, 19 October 1936, and  MAE WEST narrowly missed a hold-up at her apartment building, The Ravenswood. Associated Press sent this news over the wire.  This is Part 2 of 2.
• • Mae West returned from the prize fights in her car • •
• • The apartment house garage attendant and five other men and three women were robbed of money and jewelry hy two men who waited for apartment house tenants to return in their automobiles. The men victims were tied with wire and gagged, hut the women were allowed to stand in an alcove, threatened by the pistols of the robbers.
• • Mae West returned from the prize fights in her car with her armed bodyguard a few minutes after the robbers left the garage. The victims said their worst fear was that while they were held prisoners, Miss West and her bodyguard would arrive and that bullets, might fly indiscriminately.

Mary Carney, a belle of the '90's, who said she once teamed with Mae West in vaudeville and was the toast of the town in lush days, has been remanded for sentence Oct. 17 on a charge of turning in a false fire alarm in a spirit of fun. She was found guilty on the charge by Magistrate Bernard Kozicke in Brooklyn court.  ...
