Many reporters interviewed MAE WEST. This is a fascinating feature written some time ago by Frank Taylor. Let's enjoy it together. This is Part 4.

• • An age-less complexion • •
• • It is an old saying that a star's face is her fortune. But in the case of Mae West, it has been a life-long dedication to self-preservation and personal hygiene. Her skin is soft and looks like that of a woman half her age. It is almost completely free of wrinkles, too. She attributes this to her diet, exercise, and the use of "natural oils" to preserve the skin's soft texture.
• • One of Mae's self-imposed health rules which she follows religiously is that she does not smoke — — and does not like smoking in her presence. At her posh Santa Monica beach house, a number of signs have been placed at strategic points to warn visitors about Mae's no-smoking rules.
• • Daniel Striepeke, head of the vast 20th Century Fox makeup department, did Miss West's makeup and was amazed to discover she has never had a face lift.

• • It was on Saturday, 15 June 1935 that Mae West made headlines in The Hutchinson News [Hutchinson, Kansas]. Here's the story: A controversy developed over Hollywood starlet Mae West's sometimes marriages. Her latest film "Goin' to Town" at the air-conditioned Fox Theatre, featured West as a married woman taking two husbands and the third — — who had met an untimely demise — — all to get her clutches on the one fella she actually wanted.

• • "Did Mae West Make Sex Famous?" was one newspaper headline.
• • In Her Own Words • •
• • Mae West said: "A man can be short and dumpy and getting bald but if he has fire, women will like him."
• • Quote, Unquote • •
• • A trade newsletter, The Artisan, mentioned Mae West.
• • "Last Looks" • •
• • Might spoil that elaborate hairdress Mae West is getting from hair stylist Maybelle Carey, but those same showers none the less bring May (or Mae) flowers, and that’s what Mae is interested in.
• • And she hopes they’ll be orchids for her 1935 film "Goin’ to Town." . . .
