Many reporters interviewed MAE WEST. This is a fascinating feature written some time ago by Frank Taylor. Let's enjoy it together. This is Part 3.
• • Very Carefully Mae West Insists on Being Herself • •
• • By Frank Taylor for Copley News Service • •
• • Mae has a full-time secretary • •
• • The fan mail can run from a few dozen to several hundred items a week. Since her return to films, the amount of mail pouring into her box has increased a hundred-fold.
• • This delights her, and she has a full-time secretary to handle things.
• • "I read most of my own mail and I try to answer the important things," she said, sorting through a generous pile of correspondence spread on the coffee table of her mansion on the Pacific Coast Highway near Santa Monica.
• • Most of these envelopes are addresses with scanty information such as "Miss Mae West — — Hollywood" or "Miss West — — Los Angeles."

• • This was Part 3. We will continue with Part 4 tomorrow.
• • On Friday, 14 June 1991 in T.L.S. • •
• • An article "The invention of Mae West" written by Graham McCann was published in The Times Literary Supplement, No. 4602, issue dated for Friday, 14 June 1991.
• • Overheard in Hollywood • •
• • When lawyer Joseph Rosen asked screen siren Mae West to "come up" and give a deposition explaining how much Paramount Studios paid her for screen rights to "Diamond Lil" and other questions prefacing the $1,000,000 suit playwright Mark Linder has filed against her, Mae simply had nothing to say.
• • In Her Own Words • •
• • Mae West said: "What I did was make fun of sex lightly."
• • Quote, Unquote • •
• • The News Star mentioned Mae West.
• • Editor's Note: Mae West, funny, sultry and magnetic, liked to say, “Come on up and see me sometime.” Steve Harvey is no Mae West. (That’s probably a good thing, but still…)
