• • The fan mail can run from a few dozen to several hundred items a week. Since her return to films, the amount of mail pouring into her box has increased a hundred-fold.
• • This delights her, and she has a full-time secretary to handle things.
• • "I read most of my own mail and I try to answer the important things," she said, sorting through a generous pile of correspondence spread on the coffee table of her mansion on the Pacific Coast Highway near Santa Monica.
• • Most of these envelopes are addresses with scanty information such as "Miss Mae West — —  Hollywood" or "Miss West — — Los Angeles."
