A long article in Radio Guide Week cautioned that MAE WEST would disrupt the airwaves in 1933. Radio reporter Martin J. Porter must have had a crystal ball. Let's take a peek. This is Part 3.

• • Martin J. Porter  wrote:  Will Hays became aware, too, of the First Lady’s objections to recent screen trends, they say, by means of a letter from Washington, D.C.
• • Having learned about all this, the radio gents and the sponsors decided that perhaps it would be best all around if Mae West did not become a radio personality. So radio won't go West.
• • It seems that the observation of a radio oracle, whose name I cant re- member, applies nicely to the West situation. He said it this way, I believe:  There are many people in the radio business who ought to be out 3 and on the other hand, there are many people out of it — — who ought to stay out.

• • A 1938 headline in The Sydney Morning Herald tooted: "Mae West and Clark Gable." The screen queen was in her mid-40s and the leading man was 37 years old.
