During her birthday week, MAE WEST inspired a few tribute articles. This is one you do not want to miss.
• • "Way Out West: Classic Lines from Hollywood’s Diamond Lil" • •
• • Written by Robert Cashill for Biography.com • •
• • Trailblazing Hollywood legend Mae West was born on August 17, 1893. To celebrate the outspoken leading lady, here is a look at some of her classic movie lines that left audiences wanting more. This is part 9 of Mr. Cashill's article, the final segment.
• • A more fitting send-off • •
• • Robert Cashill wrote: Fans prefer to remember "My Little Chickadee" (1940) as a more fitting send-off to a relatively brief yet bright movie career. She and fellow vaudevillian W.C. Fields made this spoof of Westerns, and while the two squabbled over screenplay credits, they mine gold from the best of it. Their last scene in particular is a keeper, with Cuthbert J. Twillie (Fields) and Flower Belle Lee (West) exchanging catchphrases:
• • Cuthbert J. Twillie: “Come up and see me sometime.”
• • Flower Belle Lee: “Mmm, I will, my little chickadee.”
• • This was Part 9, the last segment. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

• • Bill Gibron wrote: The saucy old school actress and nightclub personality Mae West – never one to pass up a well-built body — — immediately hired Mickey Hargitay to be part of her revue in New York City. Suddenly, the untrained 30 year old was appearing before cosmopolitan crowds, the leering butt of West’s wicked wordplay and entendres. One night, reigning Broadway novelty Jayne Mansfield came to the Latin Quarter club to catch West’s act.
