In July 1970, The Australian Women's Weekly discussed MAE WEST and her eagerly awaited return to the silver screen in a lengthy, unhurried article.  This is Part 9.

• • Don Prince wrote:  Mae West pointed out, "I don't like bad language. I never tell or listen to dirty stories myself.  You can have a lot of fun, and be sexy, too, without being vulgar or plain dirty. Sex is natural and what is natural is not nasty. And dirt should always be cleaned  up."

• • Mae West added:   "As to the hippies, we've  always had 'em. We used to call them hoboes. Only with the world population explosion, we've got a lot more of them and I think hy the time they grow up, they will be perfectly respectable, maybe even a bit dull, and be calling their rebel children something else instead of hippie."
• • Mae noted:  "Do you know, I'm very popular with the kids of today?  They have seen me so often on the late-late show. They wait for hours, hundreds of them, for me to drive by. They have all the sex they can handle, I am told, but it appears they still like a little glamour!"

• • On Sunday, 25 July 1926, Mae met Valentino at Tommy Guinan's speakeasy. Larger than the average ginmill, The Playground was on West 52nd Street (east of Broadway).  James R. Quirk, editor-publisher of Photoplay, hosted a Reception in honor of Valentino's new silent movie "Son of the Sheik" there.  Mae West and Texas Guinan were there to greet the Apulian heartthrob.
