• • "Age has nothing to do with it," she said in a throaty contralto. "Look at the young actresses today. I don't know why none of them are sex symbols. It's all in a girl's personality and body movements. It's also in the voice and mind. Sex is an attitude. I can read a line one way and get into trouble with the censors. Another actress can read the same line and nothing happens. Maybe it's just that I'm aware of sex. I'm not against women's lib but I believe in maintaining the differences between the sexes. A woman is never too old for romance — — and neither is a man."

But the censors were after me all the time."
