• • Born on December 9th, Freddy Martin, an American bandleader and tenor saxophonist, recorded "Muriel" in 1954 for RCA Victor along with his orchestra and The Martin Men. The song "Muriel" was written by Al Hoffman, Peter Keveson, Ralph Freed.
• • Mae's objections to the song were aired in court. However, RCA Victor's attorneys were . . . um, victorious. Alas, Mae lost.
