MAE WEST is on the menu at Westwood Plaza Theatre and Cafe in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Their movie-savvy bill of fare includes many items inspired by the Golden Age of Hollywood.
• • Westwood states: "Our mouth-watering sandwiches, served fresh to you. All sandwiches are served on a 7 inch Pillsbury Rudi roll." And here is their chef's creation called "Mae West" — — Hot ’n’ spicy chicken fingers, nestled into a heated flour tortilla, bathed in jalapeno cheese, sour cream, and lightly grilled onions and green peppers.
• • Are you hungry for a movie date? Good thing it's Friday, the gateway to the weekend.

• • Paul Bush screened his various short subjects throughout May 2005 in London at the Curzon Cinema. A one-minute hat-tip to Mae was recorded on Beta: "Busby Berkeley's Tribute to Mae West" [2002] — — as imagined by director Paul Bush. This playful short was first released in the USA on Saturday, 12 June 2004.
• • Overheard in Hollywood • •
• • Mae West repeated the claim — — much to Cary Grant's irritation — — in countless interviews that she had discovered him.
• • In Her Own Words • •
• • Mae West said: "I never let anything stop me, once I set my heart on it. I've never had a wishbone where my backbone should be."
• • Quote, Unquote • •
• • An Australian newspaper mentioned Mae West.
• • James Bradley wrote: "On the Move" frequently offers new perspectives on both Oliver Sacks' thinking and his process. But there is much – and much that is surprising – . . . or indeed details such as his friendship with W.H. Auden and his failure to take Mae West up on an invitation to visit her at her Malibu [sic] mansion (the face-blind Sacks failed to recognise the ageing movie star). . . .
• • N.B.: Mae West's 22-room beach house was in Santa Monica actually, not in Malibu, California (as mentioned in James Bradley's book review). But perhaps the book's author made the error and, if so, how careful was the fact-checker on other matters, hmmmm?
