This recent book on MAE WEST has the most peculiar cover. No, that cannot possibly be the screen siren! NO! Who is this impostor fronting this paperback? Is it a drag queen?
• • Here is the very lame title: "Mae West 169 Success Facts — Everything You Need to Know about Mae West" and boasting about the authorship is Julia McMahon.
• • " . . . scriptwriter and intercourse sign . . ." • •
• • Here is a description of Julia McMahon's new book, word for word: "An excellent Biography of Mae West. 'Mary Jane Mae West' (August 17, 1893 — November 22, 1980) was an American female actor, vocalist, playwright, scriptwriter and intercourse sign whose amusement vocation spanned 7 periods of ten years. This book is your ultimate resource for Mae West. Here you will find the most up-to-date 169 Success Facts, Information, and much more. In easy to read chapters, with extensive references and links to get you to know all there is to know about Mae West's Early life, Career and Personal life right away."
• • A quick look inside: Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel - Notable funerals, Edgar Bergen - The Chase and Sanborn Hour, Leo McCarey — Career, Hollywood (Madonna song) — Music video, Sydney Omarr — Career as writer and media astrologer, American burlesque — Notable writers, stars and agents, Every Day's a Holiday (1937 film), Golden Globe Award for Best Actress — Mini-series or Television Film — 1980s, Kiss & Tell (1996 film) . . . .
• • Golden Globe Award for Best Actress??? Yeah, if this is how "Success Facts" sounds — — well, maybe if you have been living on planet Mars for the last century.
• • If this is not a hoax, then I don't know what is!
• • However, if you feel that author Julia McMahon has entrancing things to say about Mae's "amusement vocation" that "spanned 7 periods of ten years," then have a look at this new 230-page paperback released by Emereo Publishing on 23 May 2014. The language it is written in is stated as English.
• • If you have read this book — — ISBN-10: 1488550816 — — let us know your opinion of it. Thanks.

• • "Mae West, Her New Husband Are in Seclusion" • •
• • HOLLYWOOD, July 8 [UP} — Mae West had a load off her mind today after the long delayed statement that she was once Mrs. Frank Wallace, but how she or her newly-acknowledged hubby felt about the situation remained strictly their own personal business.
• • Mae, as they say in Hollywood, is in seclusion. Wallace, visiting in Henderson, Kentucky, had no comment although his dancing partner had plenty to say about the state of affairs. Mae went into her seclusion sometime yesterday, just before her unexpected answer to Wallace's suit was filed. . . .

NYC Mae West
Your amusing introduction in today's blog concerning "Mae West 169 Success Facts — Everything You Need to Know about Mae West" by Julia McMahon brings to mind a funny comment once uttered by Mae West, the undisputed Queen of 1508 one liners, "......ooooh, they all think they know me!" Mae was entering a Los Angeles chop suey joint when a passing garbage man called out, "You're still looking' good Mae!" West turned to Paul Novak and party and made that above mentioned quip. While Mae West certainly hasn't reached the number of biographies afforded Elvis and Marilyn, she is quickly closing in, judging by the fast and furious manner new tomes are being released, not mentioning those waiting in the wings!
ReplyDelete• • Mae West belongs to all of us -- but most writers are ill-qualified to write about the icon -- and Julia McMahon could not even be bothered to secure a proper photograph of Mae for her book cover. #awkward
