MAE WEST starred in "Come On Up" and Robert Tafur was in the cast in October 1946 when the comedy was staged in Philadelphia at the Walnut Street Theatre and elsewhere. Mae's character was Carliss Dale and Robert Tafur originated the role of Ramon Rodriguez.

• • Born in Litano, Colombia on 30 September 1915 was a sweet-faced boy named Robert Tafur. When he was 28 years old, he turned up in Tiinseltown. He had the chance to be in six feature films before Mae West selected him to tour in "Come On Up" with her.
• • From 1943 — 1981, Tafur was cast as an actor in 25 motion pictures and 28 guest-starring roles on TV. Casting agents usually assigned him the role of a Latino —— a priest, gaucho, or other character. He was also used in bit roles as a trooper, policeman, military leader, doctor. spy, telegrapher, or in an ethnic role as an Arab or East Indian.
• • Robert Tafur closed out his silver screen sojourn playing an old priest in the low-budget horror flick "Evilspeak" [1981]. One of his castmates was DeForest Covan, who was seen as a dancer in "Every Day's a Holiday" [1937] starring Mae West.
• • Robert Tafur died in Los Angeles, California on Monday, 6 June 2005. He was 89.
