• • This month, a museum in Philadelphia launched an exhibition of vintage adornments including one of Mae West's bracelets. The gold cuff, purchased at a New York City store in the early 1930s, is set with a star sapphire "as big as an egg," states the catalogue.
• • When we requested a jpeg so that visitors to the MAE WEST Blog could see the cuff, the Pennsylvania museum got real snooty. Precious is the word that comes to mind. Without the photo, alas, there is no point in steering you to buy tickets to a temporary installation where chilly rudeness from these doodle-bugged "hot shots" might await you. Phooey on them.
